Make Mine Mobtek
Fit parents and mighty toddlers

My wife and I are pretty big on fitness. She has a library of workout videos that include some very intense routines and she does them on a regular basis. She also works with weights and does not fall for myths of feminine fitness.

I, myself, hit the gym three times a week for strength training and cardio and try to get whatever other exercise I can between those days. I followed the Stronglifts 5x5 system and am now trying the Madcow intermediate system.

We are both very active around the house and with our daughter. We eat healthy (my wife is vegan, I eat vegan except for once or twice a week) and get most of our produce organic from the Farmer’s Markets. All that said, our now 22-month-old daughter is being raised in a very health and fitness conscious environment.

And it shows. She surprises me often by how strong and active she is. She moves almost non-stop, can pull-up her body-weight, and is constantly lifting and climbing things. Yesterday she took to climbing in and our of her crib. Over and over and over again.

We made the mistake yesterday of letting her get over-tired before putting her to bed. She protested by climbing out of her crib time and again. She does it with complete ease. After trying various methods of putting her down we finally resorted to just letting her cry it out in her room. She had climbed out of the crib again and was crying by the door. When she had gotten quiet for a while we checked on her and she was back in her crib, sound asleep.

Guess we’ll be ordering that toddler bed now.
